(Educational supplement: Masters $1.52/hour, PHD $3.03/hour)

Classification: Instructor (FCT)

Assiniboine Community College has been providing exceptional learning experiences that have been transforming lives and strengthening Manitoba through applied education and research for more than 60 years. Reporting to the Dean/Director or Program Coordinator, distance education instructors are responsible for facilitating and maintaining a creative and positive learning environment in the development and/or delivery of curricula and evaluation of student performance. Instructors work in various flexible and interactive distance learning models and technologies related to the division’s distance education programs. Instructors assist with assigned activities including college promotion, student recruitment, student placement, industry liaison and various administrative functions.

Be Passionate and Taking Initiative with these Responsibilities:

  • Instruct students and provide academic assistance.
  • Maintain consistent communication with students and college program staff. Provide students with timely, appropriate, and constructive feedback on all assignments, projects, and examinations.
  • Modify and/or develop course objectives, course outlines, curricula, learning resources, and evaluation procedures and instruments.
  • Prepare, maintain, and submit, as required, all course-related records including evaluation and attendance records.
  • Maintain program materials, including student progress information, to ensure an organized work environment.
  • Be well versed in college academic policies and distance procedures to recommend action to supervisor regarding compliance.

Being able to deliver results by having:

  • Content expertise in the discipline or subject area
  • Appropriate degree and/or designation
  • Degree/diploma/certificate in distance education and/or adult education
  • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in distance education curriculum development and distance education instruction
  • Experience working with diverse adult learners
